My first purchase online was a basketball program. Here’s the story of my first encounter with copywriting.
There’s a lot of events that are crucial to someone’s growth: Your first steps, your first kiss, your first $1 online…
The first time is always imprinted in your brain
In the same way, my first encounter with copywriting was epic.
I was 18 and wanted to turn pro as a basketball player. I was grinding hard on and off the floor.
Everything was in place, but I knew I could improve, so I did what everyone did before ChatGPT: I googled.
That’s how I found Jesse Muench’s Ball on a String. His landing page was reading “Get pro handle at home”.
I mean… I got hooked immediately.
Above the fold you could see a video of him and a lot of NBA players like Lebron James, Dwayne Wade…
And he was featured with renowned brands like Nike, ESPN, Redbull…
I kept reading, and below there was a LOT of videos and testimonials of other players – like me, who were starters on their team, 10Xing their skills. Plus, it had a 30-day guarantee.
Needless to say that I bought the program. A little correction here, I sold my brother to buy the program for me.
This is how a structured landing page can hook a reader into buying.
What Makes A Good Copy?
Every copy you’ll every write will have ONLY one goal: make the reader take action.
On Jesse Muench’s page, he used the simplest of the copywriting formulas and made it astounding.
An enticing title, a good social proof, a CTA and a lot of testimonials are all you need to make a sale. Who said you needed something fancy?
Keep that in mind when writing your next sales page or your next copy.
